Seven steps
Countertop installation, from quote to walkthrough
Every Calder countertop installation in the Las Vegas valley follows the same seven steps, from your quote to the final walkthrough. We fabricate in our own shop, and the same crew comes to your home to template and install, so the job is never handed off along the way.
Step by step
The seven steps
Start a quote
Start a quote online in about two minutes, or give us a call. Before anything gets scheduled, we learn what you’re building, which room it’s for and roughly when you’d like it done.
Choose your slab
You choose the slab for your project. No two slabs have quite the same veining or color, so the slab you pick is the one we lay out and cut for your home. If you haven’t decided yet, we also work out which material fits the room.
Laser measurement and templating
We measure your space with a laser, down to the millimeter, so the fabrication matches your kitchen or bathroom exactly, including the cutouts for sinks and cooktops. We take these measurements in the room itself instead of from a floor plan, because real walls and cabinets rarely match the drawings exactly.
Digital layout approval
Before anything is cut, you review a digital layout of your slab and approve where the seams and edges fall. That way the layout holds no surprises once the saw starts.
Fabrication
We cut your countertop on a five-axis bridge saw following the approved layout, then profile the edges and polish it to the finish you chose. One crew handles every stage, so nothing waits on another station’s schedule. You get photo updates as the piece moves through the shop, and you can see the equipment on the fabrication shop page.
Install, by the same crew
The team that fabricated your stone installs it. Because the job is never handed to a different crew partway through, nobody on site is guessing how a piece was cut or why. That’s true for a single kitchen counter or a full set of surfaces across a home, anywhere in the Las Vegas valley.
Final walkthrough
Before we call the job done, we walk the finished install with you and check the fit, the seams and the finish together. Anything that needs a second look gets fixed before the crew leaves, so you aren’t waiting weeks for a follow-up visit.
At every step you get daily updates and detailed photo reports, and a supervisor is on call throughout, so you always know where your project stands. If a slab doesn’t meet our standard once it’s on the saw, we tell you right away, pull a replacement and give you a new date.

Answers
Frequently asked questions
- What happens during a Calder countertop installation?
- Installation is step six of seven: a quote, choosing your slab, laser measurement, digital layout approval, fabrication, install and a final walkthrough. Calder is both the fabricator and the installer for your custom countertops, so the crew that measured and fabricated your stone is the crew that installs it.
- Can Calder replace existing countertops, not just install new ones?
- Yes. Countertop replacement follows the same process as new construction: a quote, choosing your slab, laser measurement of the existing space, fabrication, and install by the same crew. It ends with a walkthrough before we consider the job done.
- What determines how long the process takes?
- It depends on material availability and the shop’s schedule at the time you book. You get a committed fabrication date at the layout-approval step, and we hold to it. If something changes on our end, you hear about it from us ahead of your install date.
- What if I don't know which material I want yet?
- That’s fine. We’ll help you choose a material when you pick your slab. You can start a quote before you’ve picked a material.
- How will I know what's happening with my project while it's in the shop?
- You’ll get daily updates and detailed photo reports while your stone is being fabricated, and a supervisor is on call the whole way through. You should always know where your project stands without having to ask.
