Outdoor kitchens and countertops for Lake Las Vegas

The short answer

Outdoor stone that holds up to the sun

Calder fabricates and installs countertops for Lake Las Vegas homes, and we focus in particular on outdoor kitchens and BBQ surrounds. People in this resort community spend a lot of time outside, so they need outdoor stone more than most of the valley does. Two materials do that job well. Quartz stays inside, because it fades in direct sunlight. See the full outdoor comparison for the details.

Dekton

Made for this kind of exposure. It holds its color in full Nevada sun, and our shop has the blades, machinery and equipment to fabricate it.

Granite

The natural stone we recommend outside. It handles heat from the grill, it’s dense enough for the weather, and it has decades of use in outdoor kitchens behind it.

Building in Lake Las Vegas

Lake Las Vegas is a resort community in Henderson, built around the lake. Many homes are designed around patios, outdoor space and views of the water. People here plan on living outdoors from the start, so a countertop project often begins outside. We do indoor kitchen and bath work here too, but a Lake Las Vegas project usually starts with the outdoor kitchen.

Sun, shade, water

Chosen for how much sun it gets

An outdoor kitchen in full Nevada sun for most of the day needs different things than one in partial shade. A lakeside patio close enough to the water to catch wind-blown moisture has its own needs too. The fabrication process is the same either way. We ask about sun and layout before recommending a material, so we aren’t just picking whatever is most common indoors.

Outdoor work goes through the same shop and crew as indoor work, under the same license. Calder work is licensed through Brady Builds LLC, NSCB license 0092206 (C-19 Terrazzo and Marble).

Outdoor questions, indoor questions

Who fabricates countertops for Lake Las Vegas homes?
Calder does. We fabricate and install countertops for Lake Las Vegas homes, and we focus in particular on outdoor kitchens and lakeside patios.
What's the best material for an outdoor kitchen in Lake Las Vegas?
Dekton and granite both hold up outdoors in direct sun. Quartz doesn’t do well in full sun, so we keep it indoors. See our outdoor kitchens and BBQ page for the full comparison.
Do you build BBQ islands, not just countertops?
Yes. We focus in particular on outdoor kitchen and BBQ surround work, and it’s the project lakeside homes ask for most often.
Can you match indoor and outdoor stone across one property?
Yes, when the materials allow it. Start a quote that covers both spaces and we’ll go through what suits each one.
Is Lake Las Vegas too far out for you?
No. Lake Las Vegas is part of our regular service area, along with McDonald Highlands, Seven Hills, The Fountains and Anthem. See the full service area page for the rest.
